We’re Just Alive

By Corey Dolgon

Racin ‘cross the universe at the flashing speed of light.

Watching stars explode in glory and fade back in the night.

Suns and moons lit up in space like midnight service stops.

And eternity is just the time it takes to drink this coffee up.

Sometimes you just can’t remember and sometimes you just can’t forget.

Some things you hold close and near and some things you never get.

Some days they seem to last forever and some days just don’t arrive.

Somewhere else this might all be different, but here we’re just alive.

Rushin’ ‘cross the universe at the whispered speed of sound.

Everything rings crystal clear when you’re up hear leaning down.

Some say it’s the distance, brings perspective and broad insight.

But I say it’s the quiet up here, you can hear what goes on inside.

Sometimes you just can’t remember and sometimes you just can’t forget.

Some things you hold close and near and some things you never get.

Some days they seem to last forever and some days just don’t arrive.

Somewhere else this might all be different, but here we’re just alive.

Crawlin’ ‘cross the universe at the creeping speed of life.

Everything in my rear view mirror gets swallowed up by the night.

The magic and the mystery, the memory and the pain--

I keep my eyes focused straight ahead hoping they all come back again.

Sometimes you just can’t remember and sometimes you just can’t forget.

Some things you hold close and near and some things you never get.

Some days they seem to last forever and some days just don’t arrive.

Somewhere else this might all be different, but here we’re just alive.
